Union Catholic’s 2018-19 edition of its yearbook, Momentum, won second place in the American Scholastic Press Association’s Annual Review and Contest Awards for scholastic yearbooks, magazines, and publications. This edition of Momentum titled “Request the Trip, Confirm the Journey” was selected based on format, content, creative expression, and overall presentation.
Mrs. Kathleen Sagendorf has been the UC yearbook moderator since 2012 and has worked year after year to ensure a fresh vision for Momentum that is reflective of the students and their interests. Mrs. Sagendorf and her yearbook staff work together at the start of each school year to brainstorm, develop a theme, and design the body of the publication. This team continues to develop Momentum throughout the school year by collecting photographs, writing articles, laying formats, and organizing and editing content. The 2018-19 yearbook staff consisted of Molly Bonner, Robert Camisa, Karen Degnan, Rhiannon Ierardi, Chloe John, Lucy Lu, Ally Ramistella, Nya Spencer, and Gary Zhou.
Mrs. Sagendorf is excited to have received this award for UC and is thankful to be able to work with excellent students who like to organize, write, and create.
“I was thrilled to hear that we were being recognized for this award,” said Mrs. Sagendorf. “The staff worked incredibly hard on the theme and content for this edition, and we were so proud of the final outcome. UC is such a great community and I feel the yearbook attests to the spirit of the school with so many photos of smiling kids, all the activities, our faith in action, field trips, and all the student achievements. Receiving this award is an awesome way to recognize the students and give another honor to UC.”
Congratulations to Mrs. Sagendorf and the excellent yearbook staff on receiving this award!
