Union Catholic’s Thanksgiving Food Drive latest example of commitment to social justice

In another great example of Union Catholic’s social justice initiative and its commitment to helping those in need, the school collected 31 baskets of food and 31 turkeys for its Thanksgiving Food Drive, which will be distributed to those in need throughout Union County.

On Monday morning, Union Catholic’s Student Council Executive Board and Homeroom Representatives delivered the food to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Food Pantry. The items will then be picked up and dropped off to the needy.

The Thanksgiving Food Drive consists of donations from every part of the Union Catholic Community as students, faculty, parents, and alumni all pitched in for a great cause.

“The Thanksgiving Food Drive is UC at its best,’’ said Mrs. Kimberly Donnelly, the co-moderator of the Thanksgiving Food Drive along with Mrs. Melissa Yezo. “It’s all about selflessness in action, and it represents Union Catholic’s commitment to our core values. Our Thanksgiving Food Drive inspires everyone from our freshmen to our alumni, from our faculty and staff to our friends and families. By coming together as a school community, God works through us to help those in need. I would like to give a special thanks to Ms. Nancy Foulks, Union Catholic’s Director of Alumni Relations, for coordinating the alumni donations and Mr. Dave Luciano, Union Catholic’s Athletic Director, for coordinating the turkey pickup and delivery.”
