Union Catholic Senior Sarah Abood received a perfect score on the reading section of the September ACT and UC Senior Andrew Palacio received a perfect score on the English section of the September ACT.
Abood is grateful to have achieved this goal, and she gives a special thanks to UC teacher Mr. Gotilla for helping her to prepare for her tests.
“It's very gratifying to achieve this,” said Abood. “Taking practice AP tests in Mr. Gottilla's English class was certainly the most valuable preparation for me because I was able to develop the right strategies for time management and finding the answers within the text.”
Abood is an active member of the UC Community. She is the captain of the tennis team, a member of the winter and spring track teams, a Student Ambassador, and president of Operation Smile. Additionally, she serves as treasurer of the Plainfield Symphony Junior Board.
Abood plans to enter into a career that allows her to help others.
“I've always wanted to pursue a medical career, so I am planning on majoring in nursing and eventually working as a pediatric nurse practitioner.”
Palacio is excited to have earned this score and says that consistent practice was his key to success.
“I am very excited to have scored a 36 on the ACT English section,” said Palacio. “I spent a lot of time over the summer taking practice tests and trying to eliminate mistakes in my approach to the test. I would like to thank Mrs. Carolan for helping us practice and prepare for the ACT English section.”
Palacio is a member of the cross country team and the winter and spring track and field teams. He is also a Student Ambassador and a trumpet player in the school band. Palacio is looking to study engineering in college.
Congratulations, Sarah and Andrew!
