Union Catholic High School is proud to share that educator and digital learning leader, Dr. Marla James, successfully presented a two-hour pre-conference workshop at Annual Summit for Women in eLearning (ASWE Rise), held October 22-24, 2025, in Denver, Colorado.
Hosted in conjunction with WCET 2025, one of the nation’s most influential digital learning conferences, ASWE Rise celebrated women driving innovation, transformation, and leadership in online learning. The selective, high-impact event welcomed 500 leaders and practitioners shaping the future of digital education across the country.
Championing Innovation in AI-Powered Education
Dr. James’ workshop, “Leveraging AI for Transformative Online Education,” empowered attendees to explore the evolving role of artificial intelligence in virtual instruction. Her program addressed the central question:
How can online educators leverage AI to enrich instruction, support deeper learning, and create more inclusive, efficient, and impactful teaching experiences?
During her interactive session, participants:
- Modeled AI-powered tools & strategies for source analysis, critical thinking, research, & argumentation online
- Explored how AI can improve student engagement, personalize learning, & increase accessibility to support diverse learning needs
- Examined practical, hands-on strategies for using AI to help students demonstrate their learning in meaningful ways
- Leveraged AI to enrich instruction, support deeper learning, & create more inclusive, efficient, & impactful teaching experiences
