Abigail Louis-Pierre concluded one of the greatest forensic careers in Union Catholic history this past weekend in Washington, D.C. by advancing to the Octofinal Round (top 48) in Original Oratory at the National Catholic Forensic League Grand National Tournament.
Competing against many of the nation’s top high school speakers, Louis-Pierre once again delivered a powerful and polished performance on the national stage.
The achievement continued a remarkable streak of success for the recently graduated Louis-Pierre.
Last year, she reached the quarterfinal round at the Grand National Tournament in Original Oratory. She also made a deep run at the 2024 tournament, advancing to the quarterfinals in Declamation.
Louis-Pierre, who will be attending Catholic University, said her experiences competing nationally over the past several years have helped shape her growth as a speaker.
“My experience competing at the Grand National Tournament for the past two years has helped me grow into a compelling speaker,” she said. “Amidst the pressure of speaking nationally, I’ve learned to navigate nervousness and fierce competition while still delivering a memorable speech. This growth never happened overnight, but it was through these experiences that refined me into the orator I am today.”
“This was a remarkable finish to an equally remarkable forensics career,'' said Union Catholic Forensics head coach Dr. Edward Sagendorf. "We are so proud of Abby and all her accomplishments. Her enthusiasm, drive, and commitment is admirable and will be missed.''
