Our History

Located on Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains, Union Catholic opened its doors on September 9, 1962, as two schools within one building: Union Catholic Boys High School and Union Catholic Girls High School.
The Marist Brothers oversaw the education of the boys' school, while the Dominican Sisters led the girls' school. Together they established a strong academic and spiritual foundation rooted in faith, service, and community.
In 1980, Sister Percylee Hart, RSM, began her extraordinary 45-year tenure as principal. During this time, the two schools were unified into one coeducational community.
Today, under the leadership of Principal Dr. James Reagan, Jr. '96, Union Catholic carries forward its tradition of faith, academic excellence, and community while preparing the next generation of leaders.
