We opened our doors on Martine Avenue over 60 years ago and are stronger than ever in our commitment to enlivening our mission, “to provide our students with a quality education in a faith-based, value-centered environment.” Our core values of community, respect, responsibility, compassion and honesty are visible as you walk our halls, they are being taught, exemplified and modeled in all that we do. Each decision that is made at Union Catholic is based upon our core values and guided by the four pillars of our long-range strategic plan.
Here at UC, we pride ourselves on our diverse student body, talented faculty and staff, and cutting edge academics, including individualized course offerings for every student. UC’s thriving performing arts and athletic programs as well as its extensive student activities allow our students to excel both in and out of the classroom. Our vibrant Campus Ministry programs allow all of our students to grow in their faith and commitment to God. All of these elements combine to make Union Catholic one of the premier co-educational high schools not only in Union County but also in the State of New Jersey.

Sister Percylee’s leadership makes Union Catholic the exemplary community we know today.
On October 14, 1961, Union Catholic High School broke ground on a 20-acre tract in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. The following September, Union Catholic opened its doors as two separate and distinct schools: a boys’ school led by the Marist Brothers, and a girls’ school led by the Dominican Sisters. Each had its own administration, curriculum, athletic programs, extracurricular activities, and graduation.
In 1982, when the decision was made to merge the two schools into one, we searched for a principal with the compassion and foresight to lead the newly combined Union Catholic High School. Sister Percylee Hart, RSM, tackled the job in the inclusive spirit of Union Catholic, ensuring a seamless transition and a school without walls or boundaries. The result was the Union Catholic we know today: a place where students, parents, faculty, staff, and alumni are the heart of our community.
