Recent UC graduates continue dedication to helping those in need with inspiring visit to Ronald McDonald House

By Jim Lambert

Recent graduates of Union Catholic continued their dedication to helping those in need when the Student Movement Against Cancer Elite Executive Board from the Class of 2016 and moderator Mr. Mike Conte took an inspiring visit to the Ronald McDonald House in Long Branch this past Wednesday.

The group of Bailey Ramirez, Gabbi Sluka, Cassy Gonzalez, George Papas along with Mr. Conte delivered thousands of soda can tabs to the Ronald McDonald House, which UC has been collecting for the past several years.

The Ronald McDonald House, which helps families of sick children fighting illnesses by providing housing and helping with expenses, receives money for every pound of aluminum can tab tops collected that is brought to them for recycling.

“What an inspiring time I recently had with the SMAC Elite Executive Board who graduated last year,’’ said Mr. Conte. “We had bags and bags of the collected pop tabs, and it was an honor and a joy to be able to hand-deliver them to RMH, where families are provided a "home away from home" when their children are undergoing treatment at nearby medical facilities.’’
