Alexandra Kwasnik, a rising sophomore at Union Catholic, recently made the Garden Empire Volleyball Association High Performance Team, a select All-Star Team for girls 15-and-under.
According to UC volleyball coach Nancy Saggio, Kwasnik, who lives in Metuchen, was one of 10 girls chosen for the prestigious team out of 30 players that attended the tryouts.
“It’s a great accomplishment,’’ said Mrs. Saggio. “This will certainly give her a lot of confidence going into our upcoming season.’’
Kwasnik, who helped lead Union Catholic’s J.V. volleyball team to an undefeated season and the Union County title last fall, will be playing with the GEVA High Performance Team against some elite international and other U.S. regional teams this week in the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
The six-foot tall Kwasnik, also a very good high jumper on the UC track and field team, was also one of 125 players in the country chosen to attend a USA Volleyball Camp later this month in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
