If a local Board of Education provides transportation to its local public school for students who live over 2.5 miles from the school, the town is required to provide transportation for students who go out of district to attend a private school.
If a local Board of Education does not have enough students going out of district to fill a bus, they may choose instead to provide a reimbursement for transportation.
Each local Board of Education is permitted to evaluate annually how they will provide transportation for out of district student. Please be aware these lists can change and the payment options can vary from year to year.
