COURSE TITLE (184) Dance

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course will incorporate both technical and performance aspects of dance. Students will study various techniques and styles of dance as well as dance in historical and cultural perspectives. Course final evaluations culminate in the two end of semester performances at the Christmas and Spring Concerts. Grading: Students are assessed on their engagement in the course and class preparedness. Students must be prepared with the appropriate clothing and shoes for each class. Costume Requirements: Students are required to pay a one-time fee of $50 toward the cost of the costumes. Students will be able to fund raise to meet the full cost of the costume. Fees will be charged at the booksale.

COURSE TITLE (1112) Intro to Music

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to give students with little or no musical experience a firm foundation in the concepts of music theory, history, and composition. Topics that will be covered include reading and writing music, listening skills, sight-singing and historical analysis. Students will be introduced to different types of music and examine how music both reflects and shapes society.

COURSE TITLE (1118) Music Production I

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course will teach students the techniques of Digital Recording: MIDI, sequencing software, graphic editing, hard disk recording, synchronization, and effects processing. This class includes hands on training in our state-of-the-art Digital Recording Facility.
PREREQUISITE Students must have had some formal training in music. Basic music theory and terminology are used in this course and are expected to be known by the student. Students interested in taking this class must see Mr. Frio to audition. Class size is limited.



COURSE TITLE (1119) Music Production 2

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course will continue the techniques of Digital Recording introduced in Music Production I. Students will work with equipment in the Digital Recording Studio.
PREREQUISITE Successful completion of Music Production I with a grade of B or better. Class size is limited. An audition may be required.



COURSE TITLE (1126) Piano

This course is open to all students who play the piano. The course will include lessons on individual instruments as well as rehearsals on band music.
PREREQUISITE Student must supply instrument (own or rent); some school pianos are available. Student must have at least two years playing experience and the ability to read music.

COURSE TITLE (1131) Concert Choir

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The objective of this course is to teach students correct singing techniques and voice training. A wide variety of music of various styles will be explored and sung. Students in this class will participate in all concerts during the school year, as well as in assembly programs and liturgies.
